Composite fillings with LED Curing Light

Queen Street Dental only does composite or white fillings. These are made up of high strength glass particles in a plastic matrix that can be made to perfectly match the surrounding tooth structure.

The technique to place a composite filling is minimally invasive. Unlike the preparation for an amalgam (silver) filling, only the decayed part of the tooth is cut away. Once placed, the composite material is light cured with an LED Curing Light, and sets hard within minutes.

The LED Curing light is an intense blue light that works within certain wavelengths to set the composite hard. Therefore, there is no need to avoid biting on the filling after the appointment.

Composite fillings can be perfectly matched to the colour of your original teeth, so no one need know that you've been to the dentist at all. And best of all for your dental health, far less of the tooth needs to be taken away than for amalgam fillings.
