Diagnodent
Diagnodent is a laser technology that scans your teeth with a harmless pulse of light. When a cavity is present, fluorescent light of a different wavelength bounces back to the sensor, which is translated to a digital read-out. In general, the higher the number, the greater amount of decay in the tooth. When a cavity is present, the Diagnodent also produces an audible signal.
Laser Dentistry
Laser dentistry is a good option for patients who have a fear of dental drills and needles. Because lasers do not make whirring or whining sounds, you should be able to relax during your dental treatment. There are several other advantages to laser dentistry, including:
- No drills, no injections
- Less discomfort during gum treatments
- No cutting or stitches during gum surgery
- Less post-operative discomfort and swelling
- Laser dentistry reduces or eliminates the need for anesthesia
- Hard tissue laser dentistry preserves more tooth structure during cavity removal
Queen Street Dental uses the Kavo Key 3 Laser and the DIAGNOdent® laser.
