Opalescence Take Home Whitening Instructions:

I. INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Wear one of the trays at night. If worn during the day, wear for 4 hours minimum.
2. Apply small amount (pinhead size) to inner wall of tooth mold (as shown in picture). 
3. Seat tray and wipe off excess from gums. Swallowing a small amount of material is okay.
4. When awake, remove tray and rinse mouth. To remove, peel tray from back of mouth on one side.
5. Rinse tray under room temperature water, and store dry at room temperature in the case provided.
6. Wait 30 minutes before brushing teeth.

II. RECORDS:

1. Keep up with number of hours worn in LOG FORM (½ hr increments), as well as numbering the syringes, and comments as to colour change and side effects.
2. Note in LOG FORM if skipping a day or forgetting to treat, and why.
3. Try to get as much from each syringe as possible (3-5 nights). Count syringes on the log form to determine weekly needs for extended treatment.

III. SENSITIVITY: If you have sensitivity, do one of the following:

• 1. Skip a night or two, and start again.

1. Brush with desensitizing toothpaste, like Sensodyne, Colgate, Crest, containing 5% potassium nitrate and fluoride.
2. Put a desensitising material [either the previous toothpaste used if no gingival irritation or material such as Ultra EZ from dentist] in the tray for 10 - 30 minutes in place of the bleaching material when needed.

IV. NEXT APPOINTMENT: Call for an appointment when/if:

1. Teeth colour is as you want (matches whites of eyes). Expect a slight relapse in colour immediately after bleaching as oxygen escapes from teeth. The other arch may be begun now with the other tray.
2. You need more bleaching material and have not completed bleaching; refill kits are available for extended bleaching times with stubborn stains.
3. You have any questions or concerns.
